Canadian Canoe Tour to Santa Caterina on Lake Maggiore

You will paddle in the company of an experienced instructor all the way to the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, a stunning monastery perched dramatically above the lake, and the exclusive Pirate’s Cove, a hidden spot accessible only from the water. Join us for this adventurous canoe tour, available year-round, as in a Canadian canoe you sit comfortably and do not get wet!

What we’ll do The meeting point is at the selected time in Arolo (VA). Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by the instructor, who will assign us our Canadian canoe along with paddles, life jackets, and waterproof overshoes (full equipment included in the price). We will then have a briefing on how to use the canoe and on safety rules, and after some practice on the water, we will be ready to depart. We will paddle on Lake Maggiore following the rocky shoreline towards the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, a striking monastery set on a cliff overlooking the water. It will even be possible to touch the rock face where the religious complex is built into the cliff! During the journey, we will also encounter street art works in a Banksy-style and a shipwreck embedded among the rocks. The guide will then lead us to Pirate’s Cove, a hidden place inaccessible by land. We will stop here for a short break, sitting on this “terrace” overlooking the lake.

We will then get back into the canoes and calmly return to Arolo. The total duration of the activity is approximately 2.5 hours. Dogs are allowed to join the experience. The experience is suitable for ages 7 and up.
